Reasons to adopt a pet dog | Do not buy

10 Reasons to adopt a dog instead of buying!

Each year, it's estimated that more than one million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few consider adoption while looking for a new pet.

1.     If more people adopted pets instead of buying them, the number of euthanized animals could be reduced dramatically.

2.     When you adopt a pet, you save a loving animal and vacant the shelter space for other animals who might desperately need it. Many pets in shelters are already trained and used to living with families.

3.     Usually, when you adopt a pet, the cost of first vaccinations and sometimes even microchipping is included in the adoption price, saving some of the upfront costs of adding a new member to your family. Depending on the pet animal, you may also save on the training expenses.

4.     People like your selfies even more if you post with your adorable pet you just adopted! Adopt a pet, post those pictures, and motivate others to adopt pets.

5.     It's a way to fight puppy mills.

If you buy a dog from a pet store, online sellers, or flea markets, you’re almost certainly getting a pet from a puppy mill. Puppy mills are factory-like breeding facilities that care for their profit above the welfare of pet dogs.

Animals from those puppy mills are housed in shockingly deplorable conditions with improper medical facilities and are often very sick and behaviorally troubled pets. The mothers of these puppies are locked in cages to be bred over and over for many years, without human companionship or friendship and with no hope of ever joining a family.

And when they are no longer profitable, breeding animals are discarded - either killed or abandoned. These puppy mills continue to stay in business through different deceptive tactics - their customers are those who shop from different sellers, over the Internet, or through ads. People need to stop supporting those puppy mills. By adopting rescued dogs or stray dogs.

6.     Adopting a mature dog not only gives older animals a second chance to live life, and it often means introducing them to your family will be much easier.

7.      All pet animals are good for your health, and adopted dogs offer an extra boost.
